Why Damp Kitchen Rags are Even Riskier

Using the same damp rag repeatedly spreads germs across counters, cutting boards, and appliances - undoing any cleaning you thought you were doing.

How Often Should You Replace or Wash Towels and Rags?

  • Replace shower towels after 3 uses max and wash immediately if they stay damp or smell musty.
  • Replace kitchen rags at least once per day, wash daily in hot water, and never reuse them if used on raw meat surfaces.

Pro Tip: If a towel or rag doesn't fully dry within a few hours, it's time for a fresh one.

My Personal Pro Tip: If the wife isn't looking, it is ok to use a paper towel on occasion, just get rid of the evidence so you don't get caught. My wife complains when I use paper towels, so most of the ones in my house are in mint condition and, after all these years, probably still work very well. Need to figure out under what conditions she would approve of me using paper towels.
