Why Partner

Evergreen educational content built around a real health transformation.

About Healthy Retirement Strategies

Healthy Retirement Strategies is a wellness content platform built for readers who refuse to let retirement mean slowing down. Centered on a long-running blog and companion Shopify store, the brand covers healthy aging, nutrition, strength and fitness habits, and the outdoor-centered lifestyle philosophies of Scandinavia — friluftsliv, hygge, allemansrätten, and lagom — drawn firsthand from a personal trip through Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Estonia.

Every piece of content is grounded in one person's real, ongoing transformation: a documented weight loss journey, a disciplined rucking and weightlifting practice, and a research-backed approach to nutrition, told in a reflective, first-person voice readers have come to trust.

My Story

On Christmas Eve 2022, I weighed 268 pounds. Four years later, I've kept 50+ of those pounds off — and I've turned the whole process into content that helps other people do the same thing.

Growing up, I stayed lean because I was always playing sports. Once I graduated and stopped, the weight crept on for years — through my twenties, through raising kids, through a demanding career. By that Christmas Eve, after a holiday feast I couldn't stop eating, I felt terrible for days. A visit to my doctor turned up dangerously high blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, and triglycerides. An eye exam the same week found blood behind my right eye — a classic warning sign of diabetes. Around the same time, I lost two people my own age, suddenly. That was the wake-up call I couldn't ignore.

I rebuilt my life around three things: rucking, weightlifting, and nutrition. I started walking with a weighted vest three days a week — 26 pounds at first, now the full 35 — combined with squats, reverse sit-ups, and stair climbs; in 2022 I couldn't climb one flight of 13 steps without gasping, and today a full session covers 130. I lift heavy weights three days a week using a pyramid system with slow, controlled negatives. I overhauled how I eat: less sugar, salt, and processed carbs, more fresh produce, lean protein, healthy fats, and a short list of supplements I still take today — all built into a morning, pre-workout, and evening routine I write about regularly.

Six weeks in, I'd lost 20 pounds and the blood behind my eye had cleared. I went on to lose 52 pounds total, and I've maintained the loss for almost two years — recently adding a stationary bike four to six times a week to the mix. I started this journey before I retired, but the point of Healthy Retirement Strategies is that none of it is age-gated: these changes are achievable at any stage of life, and I document mine — the wins and the setbacks — in real time so readers can follow along and do it themselves.

Why My Recommendations Matter

Why Readers Trust My Recommendations

I only recommend products that I either personally use or believe genuinely fit the healthy lifestyle I write about.

Because I document my own routines—including nutrition, rucking, strength training, and daily habits—product recommendations become a natural part of the story instead of feeling like advertisements.

Who I Reach

My audience is retirement-age and pre-retirement readers actively investing in their own longevity — people looking for realistic, sustainable ways to lose weight, build strength, and age well, not quick fixes or extreme programs. They read for practical guidance and stay for the personal story. This is a demographic with time to engage deeply with content, discretionary income for wellness products, and a strong bias toward brands and recommendations that feel personally vetted rather than sold to them.

Content Topics

  • Healthy aging & longevity — practical, research-informed habits for staying strong and independent later in life.
  • Nutrition — real-food eating strategies, supplements, and the daily routines behind sustainable weight management.
  • Fitness & strength — rucking, structured weightlifting, and low-impact movement built for an active-aging audience.
  • Scandinavian lifestyle philosophy — friluftsliv, hygge, allemansrätten, and lagom, informed by firsthand travel through Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Estonia.
  • Personal transformation — an ongoing, first-person account of weight loss, rucking, workouts, travel, and nutrition.

Content Formats — The Content Ecosystem

I don't publish a blog post. I publish a content ecosystem — every article is engineered once and distributed across eighteen platforms.

Most independent creators write a single blog post and stop, or chase short-lived social content that disappears within a day. My process is different: every article I write is systematically repurposed into a full slate of formats, so one piece of research and one personal story generates months of discovery across every major platform my audience uses.

Written & Audio Video & Visual Social & Syndication
Blog article Shopify article Audio article Medium Patreon
YouTube post Instagram Reel Instagram Carousel TikTok video Pinterest Pins
Facebook post Instagram post Threads post LinkedIn post X post Bluesky Tumblr Flipboard Pearltrees

Why this is unusual

Evergreen by design. Most influencer content disappears within 24 hours. My articles are built to keep generating search and social traffic months after publication — which is exactly the kind of durable traffic affiliate managers value most.

I teach, I don't sell. Every piece is educational first. That builds trust with readers, which is what makes them receptive to a recommendation when I do make one.

I document my own journey. Readers follow my weight loss, my rucking, my workouts, my Scandinavian trip, and my nutrition in an ongoing, first-person narrative — which creates a personal connection that generic wellness content can't.

Every article has audio. Very few independent bloggers produce audio versions of their content consistently — I do it for every article, widening accessibility and giving partners another channel to reach the audience.

Why Brands Partner With Me

  • A highly engaged, purchase-ready niche. My readers are actively investing in their own health in retirement — an audience with time, intent, and discretionary income, not a broad, unfocused following.
  • Evergreen traffic that keeps paying off. Content built for search and long-tail discovery continues to drive clicks for months after publication, compounding the return on any single sponsored placement.
  • Trust earned through education. I teach first and sell second. That posture makes a product recommendation land as advice from someone credible, not an ad.
  • A real, ongoing personal story. Readers are following my actual weight loss, rucking practice, workouts, nutrition, and travel — a first-person narrative that a brand's product can become part of, not just an insert into.
  • One article, eighteen distribution points. A single sponsored piece isn't a single post — it's re-engineered into blog, Shopify, audio, video, and social formats across every major platform, multiplying a partner's reach from one piece of content.
  • Audio as a differentiator. Very few independent wellness creators produce audio versions of their content consistently. I do — giving partners an additional, underused channel to reach the audience.
  • Direct topical fit for wellness and active-aging brands. Nutrition, supplements, rucking gear, fitness equipment, and healthy-aging products all map naturally onto the content I already produce.

Partnership Opportunities

  • Affiliate partnerships — product recommendations woven into existing and new evergreen content (nutrition, supplements, rucking and fitness gear).
  • Sponsored content — a dedicated article distributed across the full 18-format ecosystem, extending a single sponsorship well beyond a single post.
  • Product reviews & testing — first-person, in-practice reviews of nutrition, supplement, or fitness-gear products as part of my own ongoing routine.
  • Email & audience integration — inclusion in a growing subscriber list as list-building infrastructure (Mailchimp/ConvertKit) is put in place.
  • Long-term ambassador relationships — ongoing partnerships with brands aligned to rucking, strength training, or healthy-aging nutrition, built around my documented personal journey.
